The Secret to Gross-up Calculations
Webinar 1: September 12 or 15
The IRC, state and local governments require employers to withhold taxes from wages. When the employer pays the employee's taxes, it is called a gross-up. It is the employer's decision whether to withhold or gross-up the taxes on any amount attributable to the employee. There is a general gross-up formula which usually works, but other factors may require the formula be modified. These calculations don't have to be messy and gross; they are just basic high school math.
Webinar 2: September 19 or 22
With four generations in the workplace and a fifth entering the workforce in 2020, leaders need to understand the differences between the generations and determine how to ensure they can work well together. In this session, we will discuss the communication styles, work characteristics, team dynamics, and how each generation views feedback and rewards. You will learn how the generations can work together in teams and the part each "generally likes to play" on a team.

The FLSA requires that nonexempt employees must be paid an hourly rate of one and one-half times the employee's regular rate of pay for all time physically worked over 40 hours in a workweek. Sounds easy. Why was the Department of Labor able to collect in fiscal year 2015 nearly $138 million in back overtime from employers not paying their employee's overtime according to this law? We'll reveal the answer to payroll's biggest secret so your employer is not one of them.
