Connect, Innovate, Transform: First Ever Free Payroll Solutions Showcase Event

While individuals and corporations can finally see a light at the end of the pandemic tunnel, there’s one thing the last 15 months have proven … that creative solutions are needed to help bridge the social distancing gap businesses have been feeling. Last year, and continuing into the first half of 2021, few, if any, in-person conferences have taken place across major industries—including payroll.

During this time, companies have been trying to gain a better understanding of the challenges payroll professionals are facing. And payroll professionals want to share their expertise and learn how they might be able to partner with businesses to solve their specific problems—some that may have even emerged because of the pandemic itself. That’s where the APA and the Global Payroll Management Institute (GPMI) are stepping in to help.

To solve the growing need for payroll industry service providers (vendors) to reach prospective buyers in 2021, the APA and GPMI have created the inaugural Payroll Solutions Showcase---a free, virtual event scheduled for July 13 from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. ET that will remain available on demand until December 31. Register on the APA website under the “Education & Certification” tab.

Find the Right Solutions

In this interactive event, vendors and companies will be able to seek out the best solutions to their specific payroll problems by participating in product demos, case studies, and product user interface sessions.

“I think it’s important that people can come together in the easiest way possible to discuss business challenges and find out how we can help each other,” said Tara O’Sullivan, Chief Marketing Officer of showcase participant Immedis. “Everything we do in global payroll is focused on helping organizations streamline, simplify, and accelerate accurate payroll delivery.”

Dan Maddux, APA Executive Director and GPMI President, said the showcase helps to fill a growing global need.

“The payroll industry landscape has changed over the last year, which has affected businesses globally,” he said. “The Payroll Solutions Showcase will offer companies and vendors an opportunity to see how payroll plays one of the largest global roles in the future of work and pay.”

Brent Gow, CPP, Managing Partner at BRGow & Associates LLC, believes a virtual event like the Payroll Solutions Showcase will enhance specific discussions in industries across the globe. He also sees it as an intimate event that can provide best practice options from the service providers based on those discussions they have with potential customers.

“It can be difficult to get one-on-one time with a service provider at larger events like Payroll Congress,” Gow said. “Scheduling interactive product demos based on pre-scheduled business requirements from the payroll team and learning how other companies use case studies will help payroll departments. As they listen to other industry leaders, new ideas may surface that will benefit their payroll team through automation and cost savings.”

For Ireland-based Immedis, the Payroll Solutions Showcase will offer a unique opportunity to interact directly with payroll professionals, gain a better understanding of the challenges they are facing, and share expertise and how they can work together with payroll pros to solve problems.

“We take on the complexity, so organizations and payroll teams don’t have to,” O’Sullivan said. “What better opportunity is there than the Payroll Solutions Showcase to talk about these challenges and to demonstrate how we can help?”

Gain Extra Education

Not only can attendees participate in private one-on-one discussions with payroll vendors and providers to help them find solutions their companies need, but they can also gain some education as well. Four panel discussions will take place during the event—two in the morning and two in the afternoon—in which up to 4 RCHs can be earned. The panels include the following:

  1. “Reshaping the Employee Experience”—from 10:30 a.m.-11:45 a.m. ET
  2. “The Big Picture: Payroll & HR Systems”—from 10:30 a.m. -11:45 a.m. ET
  3. “Redefining the Day to Day: Working Smarter, Not Harder”—from 2:05 p.m.-3:15 p.m. ET
  4. “Pay at Their Fingertips”—from 2:05 p.m.-3:15 p.m. ET

During the panel “Redefining the Day to Day: Working Smarter, Not Harder,” participating companies will talk about the importance of embracing automation and technology to help drive data analytics—the central point of many business decisions.

“Payroll is chock full of untapped opportunities and data insights that payroll teams can leverage to have a strategic business impact across the organization,” O’Sullivan said. “The direct interactions will be a great way to demonstrate this. Overall, I think it will be extremely valuable for everyone participating.”

Participating companies in the panel “The Big Picture: Payroll & HR Information Systems” will discuss the growing needs within payroll and human resources for global solutions during challenging times.

Shop Together as a Payroll Team

Payroll teams have the opportunity in this virtual environment to participate together. Research and comparisons on participating vendors and solutions can be made as a group in this free event all in one day.

“I talk to payroll practitioners on a regular basis, and if there was ever a role where there simply wasn’t a moment to waste, it’s in payroll,” said Rachel Rapoza, FPC, Product Marketing Manager at UKG (Ultimate Kronos Group).

UKG is another vendor partaking in the event and Rapoza said her company is invested in simplifying the entire payroll process from end to end and wants to connect with as many customers as possible—from global multinational organizations to small businesses.

“They’re facing constant change within their own business. At the same time, technology is rapidly evolving. That’s why events like this one by the APA and GPMI are so important. I’d encourage everyone to look for a solution provider who will work as a partner in lockstep to help you meet your goals.”

Rapoza said that over the last year and a half, payroll teams have realized that a payroll solution provider’s services and support are just as important as–if not more important than–product features and functionality. That’s why UKG is constantly exploring new and unique opportunities to offer a tailored customer experience that specifically addresses the needs of a payroll department.

“When you combine a great customer experience with innovations like mobile self-service, earned wage access and financial wellness, and payroll service delivery solutions, as well as unified timekeeping and payroll, that’s when special experiences really begin to happen,” Rapoza said. “We’re committed to inspiring workforces and businesses around the world, helping to create connected and meaningful experiences for everyone. And that process starts with payroll.”

Linda Obertin, CPP, Director of Shared Services at DXC Technology, is looking forward to the Payroll Solutions Showcase because it will be a more “holistic, solution-based forum” that can meet the “complex business requirements” of companies across the country.

“Payroll leaders and their teams need to be aware of the multiple options available to provide effective and compliant solutions for organizations,” Obertin said. “As a responsible leader, it is critical to monitor and stay informed of industry trends and potential solutions for our firm to deliver the highest quality and most effective services.”
