This position is responsible for efficiently and accurately answering benefit questions, processing a high volume of transactions and system audits, and resolving associate problems. Also assists in the administration of all employee benefit plans including life, health, dental, vision, disability, flexible spending accounts, 401(k), stock purchase, and leave of absence. The Art Institute of Chicago, Senior Payroll Specialist, Chicago, IL

For more than 135 years, the Art Institute of Chicago and School of the Art Institute of Chicago have shared a commitment to the preservation, education and exploration of the artistic ideal. The Museum and the School are proud of our longstanding relationship, and form a single corporation called the Art Institute of Chicago. While the Museum and School have a shared mission of promoting the arts and art education, their operations are largely separate and each has its own chief executive who reports directly to the corporation's Board of Trustees. We are currently seeking an experienced payroll professional for Senior Payroll Specialist. The Senior Payroll Specialist is responsible for assisting the Payroll Manager in the daily operation of the Payroll Department. This position has the overall responsibility for timely and accurate processing of the semi-monthly pay cycles for The Art Institute and School of the Art Institute. This Senior Payroll Specialist explains and interprets complex payroll information to employees at all levels of the organization. The position also requires the use of analytical skills to identify and address potential issues and to report those items to the Payroll Manager. Significant abilities include assisting in specialized processing, requiring a more detailed knowledge of payroll practices, procedures, and the computerized payroll system (PeopleSoft HRSA). The Senior Payroll Specialist must also be able to interpret and apply the policies of the Employees AIC Guidelines Handbook: to ensure by means of analytical review that the payroll cycle is free from errors and completed on time; act as back-up to the Payroll Specialist; process payroll distribution to PeopleSoft general ledger; consistently apply Art Institute policy and government regulations to all processing; enter into the PeopleSoft system garnishments; IRS levies, child support and court orders; research employee questions and provide resolutions, as dictated by Art Institute policy; communicate problem areas with payroll cycle processing to Payroll Manager.
