The Payroll Specialist at The Odom Corporation performs all activities necessary to process one or more payrolls, including maintenance of related records, processing involuntary deductions, preparing accounting transactions and documents, documenting procedures, and compiling special reports for management. This position also works with external auditors and state and federal agencies. Skills and knowledge required include a minimum of two years of payroll experience, bachelor's in accounting or equivalent training and experience, proficiency in Microsoft Office, excellent communication skills, and a high level of interpersonal skills for handling sensitive and confidential situations. The Odom Corporation prefers to hire individuals carrying FPC or CPP certification. This position requires the constant demonstration of poise, tact, and diplomacy.

Arlington Public Schools, Supervisor of Payroll, Arlington, VA

The Supervisor of Payroll plans and supervises administration of the semimonthly payroll for all APS employees, fosters a fully automated payroll system integrated with time and attendance processes, and performs related payroll program management work. The Supervisor of Payroll conducts accurate and timely issuance of the semimonthly payroll, including providing guidance to timekeepers APS-wide and compliance with our policy for time and attendance reporting. This position ensures proper deductions, runs trial and final payroll, and reports to federal and state agencies. The Supervisor of Payroll continuously coordinates with Information Services regarding the payroll and benefits modules of STARS (the Oracle-based enterprise information system of APS), and works with Human Resources regarding official personnel transactions, benefits-to-deductions interface, and with timekeepers throughout APS. Outside APS, the Supervisor of Payroll interacts with financial institutions and federal, state, or other governmental agencies regarding withholding, payments, reporting, audits, and more.
