City of San Jose, Principal Accountant, San Jose, CA

The City of San Jose Finance Department currently has one vacant Principal Accountant position in the Accounting Division. Under general supervision from the Deputy Director, this Principal Accountant directs and manages the Disbursement section in the Accounting Division. This position manages all aspects of the city's payroll process, including the generation of 6,500 biweekly paychecks and all related finance payroll process and associated accounting entries, ensuring they are accurately journalized in the city's general ledger for the preparation of financial reports related to the city's payroll. The accurate and timely monitoring of these items affects all department personnel budget expenses for a gross annual payroll of more than $550 million. Responsibilities also include communicating issues and organizational changes related to the payroll processes in city publications, finance websites, payroll training programs, ensuring compliance with the requirements of the city's 11 bargaining unit agreements, as well as defining and documenting system changes for payroll requirements, and working with the Information Technology Department to implement changes required in the Oracle PeopleSoft HR/Payroll System.

UnitedHealth Group, Senior Benefits Analyst, Minnetonka, MN

The Senior Retirement Analyst assists members of the Wealth Team with day-to-day plan administration responsibilities and collaborates with internal and external parties to satisfy, maintain, and improve participant experiences. The position's responsibilities include: researching, analyzing, and resolving benefit issues; researching and analyzing payroll and recordkeeping reports; responding to employee service requests; assisting with annual plan audits and nondiscrimination testing; participant transactions including contributions, loans, distributions, etc.; reconciliation of payroll; coordinating participant communication, education and training activities and campaigns; reporting on program effectiveness; merger activities regarding acquired plans; implementation of changes to existing plans; and program reporting. The position also works in partnership with human capital, legal, finance, accounting, payroll, communications, information technology, and other company professionals.
