Assist in directing the financial activities of the hotel, safeguard assets, and prepare all financial reports in accordance with generally accepted accounting. Responsibilities include directly supervising day-to-day accounting operations through an accounting staff, developing policy and procedure manuals for the accounting department, managing and completing month-end closing and monthly financial state preparation, preparing monthly account reconciliations, filing monthly tax returns, file annual abandoned property returns, handle all accounting-related IT functions in coordination with the IT department, and more. The applicant must possess the ability to maintain a pleasant disposition and function efficiently in high stress/pressure work environment. Solid interpersonal skills and positive attitude is a must. Expert knowledge of Microsoft Excel and working knowledge of P.M.S. and P.O.S. operations, and back office accounting and payroll software. Knowledge of Opera, Micros 3700, Mas 90 Accounting software, SpaSoft, payroll software applications, Microsoft Exchange, Microsoft operating systems is highly recommended. This position requires a 4-year degree and four to six years of relevant experience. Knowledge of departmental operations is a must.



Corporate Payroll Services, Director of Operations, Duke University, Durham, NC

Provide leadership of the Corporate Payroll Services function on behalf of all Duke University and Duke University Health System employees. Implement, manage, and evaluate operational processes and procedures in accordance with organizational policies and standards. Direct and coordinate activities of the Corporate Payroll Services Operations team to engage in analyzing and processing Duke University and Health System payroll transactions for faculty, staff, and biweekly employees as well as non-compensatory fellowship/scholarship recipients. Manage the Payroll Operations team while ensuring continuity of roles and responsibilities, proper distribution of assignments, and maintaining outstanding customer service practices. Function at a senior management level within Corporate Payroll Services to provide leadership and support for effective problem-solving, difficult customer inquiries, and overall direction for payroll operations. Communicate with the Associate Vice President for Disbursements as appropriate regarding departmental strategy, operations, and issues. Submit recommendations for personnel transactions and other business process redesign. Partner with colleagues in Disbursement Services, Corporate Tax, and Legal Counsel to coordinate processes related to independent contractor vs. employee classifications, international programs, including expatriates, as well as other scenarios governed by regulatory requirements. Work generally requires seven years of relevant experience in payroll operations with an accounting proficiency related to accepted accounting and payroll practices in a higher education and healthcare environment. Five years of managerial experience in a payroll operations environment. Expertise with federal and state regulatory requirements or an equivalent combination of relevant education and/or experience.



Payroll Manager, Fox Film,
Los Angeles, CA

20th Century Fox Film is one of the world's largest producers and distributors of motion pictures. 20th Century Fox Film produces, acquires and distributes motion pictures throughout the world. These motion pictures are produced or acquired by the following units of 20th Century Fox Film: Twentieth Century Fox, Fox 2000 Pictures, Fox Searchlight Pictures, Fox International Productions, and Twentieth Century Fox. The Payroll Manager will manage all aspects of the "Above the Line" payroll such as establishing appropriate checks and balances to ensure payroll compliance and accuracy. As an expert in guild contracts for television and motion pictures, as well as being familiar with tax credit incentives and state requirements, they will initiate and administer changes to department operations. Responsibilities of the position include supervising the work of six talent payroll staff members, monitoring the day-to-day talent payroll check calculation and payment processes to completion with 100% accuracy, reviewing employee multi-state tax set ups to ensure 100% accuracy, providing guidance on foreign taxation while performing services in the USA specifically in the entertainment industry, advising on and approving the processing of payroll adjustments, check reversals and stop payments, daily auditing of the payroll registers, providing on-the-job training to payroll staff members as needed, being responsible for year-end tasks, and more. A BS/BA degree is preferred, and 7-year minimum expertise in talent payroll is essential. Previous management and leadership experience, as well as entertainment industry experience, is a must. The application must have proven listening skills, the ability to work overtime when necessary, and be able work under pressure in order to meet daily deadlines. Must be proficient in Word and Excel with the ability to learn new systems and software.
