Average Tenure for Top Payroll Performers More Than a Decade

According to The Hackett Group's 2009 Payroll Performance Study, top-performing payroll organizations have an average tenure than begins at six years and ends at greater than 10 years. As evidenced by these results, experience is vital in overall payroll performance.

Senior Payroll Specialist, Dallas, TX: Coordinate all activities associated with the payroll functions, including: processing timecards, calculation of payroll earnings and deductions, and work closely with the accounting department to ensure accurate and timely reporting. Payroll processing for approximately 600 employees, which include salaried exempt and nonexempt.

 
Payroll Director, Merced, CA: Under general direction, the Payroll Director manages the Campus Payroll Office. Major duties include implementation of University payroll policies and procedures, training of departmental payroll/personnel staff, approving and coordinating the implementation of system changes, review of campus-wide payroll transactions and ledgers ensuring the integrity and accuracy of the recorded expenditures and liabilities on the ledgers, act as campus contact with UCLA payroll functions and technical offices.
