Congress Orientation


A must for first-timers, a Congress Orientation Session will help make Congress one of the most rewarding experiences of your career! Choose from two conveniently scheduled sessions, each presented by Congress veterans who will show you how to learn, network, and have fun at Payroll City Limits!
Orientation Session I is Monday, May 12, 6:30 p.m. - 7:00 p.m.
Orientation Session II is Tuesday, May 13, 6:30 p.m. - 7:00 p.m.


Chapter Exchange

Join more than 150 members and colleagues from APA's local chapters to network and discuss issues and programs critical to your chapter's success. You will also meet the APA's Board of Advisors and volunteers from the APA's CHAMPS (Chapters Helping APA-chapters Make Payroll Shine) chapter mentor program. Come join us during Session 8 on Friday, May 16, from 2:20 - 3:50 p.m. for chapter awards, interactive networking, and more. Wear your chapter logo to the workshop and receive a small prize!

Chapter Pictorials

Witness the creativity and originality of APA's chapters by visiting the impressive and colorful chapter pictorial displays beginning on Tuesday, May 13, at 5:30 p.m. on Level 4 of the Austin Convention Center. The pictorials reflect the spirit and teamwork of APA's chapters and will be displayed on Level 4 during Congress.

Events

Annual Business Meeting

Scheduled for Tuesday, May 13, 7:30 p.m. - 9:00 p.m., the American Payroll Association's Annual Business Meeting is open to all association members.


Costume Contest

This year's costume contest has a truck stop theme. Compete in the following categories: Best Truck Stop Waitress, Best Beer Gut, Best Tattoos (real or fake), Best Hippie, and Best Trucker Traveling Companion. Judging will take place in the Exhibit Hall before this year's Congress Party; so wear your gear all day or dress for contest success before attending this year's party on Thursday, May 15. You know all the answers when it comes to tip credit at your local diner. Now it's time to have fun and show off your creative side with the annual Congress Costume Contest!


Awards Ceremony

At each annual Congress, APA acknowledges members who have made significant contributions to the success of the association as well as the advancement of the profession. APA will honor these exceptional achievers in a special awards ceremony during Friday's luncheon.


Resources

New Workshops Added to the Lineup

In order to keep up with the ever-changing payroll industry, 20 new workshops have been added to this year's lineup of more than 100 different workshops. In addition, the Accounts Payable track has expanded to include 10 specialized workshops. The popular "Legislative Trends and APA Lobbying Efforts" workshop is being offered in Sessions 1 and 4 to make it available to all participants.


APA Today

Spouse and Guest Information Meeting

All guests of registered participants are invited to a special spouse and guest program on Tuesday, May 13, 4:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. To help guests make the most of their stay in Austin, representatives from local attractions will share highlights from some of Austin's most popular sites.
