Employers collect 70% of all child support in the U.S., largely through employee wage withholding. However, independent contractors are also subject to withholding, and the duty to collect it from their earnings falls to the AP department. Ms. Grigsby will discuss efforts to identify and enforce support obligations owed by independent contractors and the challenges employers face in their duties.

Carolyn Colvin has spent her career managing programs designed to assist people with their health care and financial needs. She will discuss the future of social security and Medicare, SSA's efforts to redesign its wage reporting system, the MySSA project, Business Services Online (BSO) developments, and other SSA initiatives affecting payroll in 2012 and beyond.
