APA's 2008 Congress presents:

Paul Rodriguez!
Wednesday, May 14, 2008

Enjoy dessert and cocktails while being entertained by hot Hollywood actor and comedian Paul Rodriguez! This year APA is proud to present a night of laughs with the only stand-up comedian who can perform in two languages. Paul is a big-screen celebrity who has worked side-by-side with stars from Clint Eastwood to Cheech Marin. He also performs stand-up comedy world-wide and with the USO in the Middle East, including three visits to Iraq.

Rodriguez's break came when Norman Lear developed a weekly series for Paul after seeing him do comedy warm-ups for Lear's show "Gloria." His career spans three decades and includes starring roles in HBO comedy specials like Loco Slam and Live in San Quentin. Paul made his film debut with Mr. T in "D.C. Cab" and later co-starred in "Ali."

Guy Forsyth Trio

It's been a long and dusty, winding road for Austin singer/songwriter Guy Forsyth that has led him to open our evening entertainment. He presents a dazzling show with a rich Americana roots sound. Forsyth (vocals, acoustic, electric, & slide guitar, harmonica, ukulele, and saw), along with Will Landin (bass/tuba) and Rob Hooper (drums/Cajon) bring a unique mixture of folk, rock, country, and Tin Pan Alley. You'll hear powerhouse vocals deliver energetic yarns about love, the government and the apocalypse, to name a few, as Forsyth and company squeeze everything they have into each song and rarely come up for air.

Forsyth has opened for and shared the stage with musicians such as BB King, Ray Charles, Ben Harper, Lucinda Williams, The Neville Brothers, Jimmy Vaughn, Dr. John, Robert Cray, among many others.

The Paul Rodriguez show is preceded by APA's Taste of Texas at the Exhibit Hall Grand Opening starting at 5:45 p.m. Enjoy native Texan food while you enjoy some Texas hospitality in the world's largest payroll and accounts payable Exhibit Hall.
