Each year the Chapter of the Year is selected by the Chapter Recognition Committee from the entries submitted by local chapters.
This award is a formal 'thank you' granted by APA and the Board of Directors to a Director upon completion of his or her term.
APA Presidents, who serve a one-year term, participate in the governance of the Association and represent APA at industry meetings and events. Presidents are inducted in the year in which they serve.
APA's highest award is bestowed each year on a national member who has served the Association on many national committees and/or task forces.

Only very few of these awards are granted each year to APA members who serve on national committees and local chapters. They have served consistently for many years on a voluntary basis.
These awards are granted to APA members who volunteer and serve on various committees and/or at the local chapter level to advance the payroll profession. Their terms of service may not yet be lengthy
APA's Board of Directors decided that all current APA employees with 10 or more years of employment with APA should be represented in the Payroll Hall of Fame.
APA's Board of Directors decided that all current APA employees with 15 or more years of employment with the APA should receive the Distinguished Service Award.
The Merit of Honor is presented to an APA employee who has gone above and beyond in service to the American Payroll Association.
